Who is God?

God's Characteristics:

God's personal characteristic fall into two categories: Those which humanity also posses, and those which we do not posses.

GOD'S MORAL ATTRIBUTES (WHICH WE SHARE) ARE:

Holiness - God is morally pure, without sin.

Love - God desires that which is best for otherss.

Justice - God applies consequences to peoples actions according to fixed standards.

Goodness - God's will ultimatley brings about that which is gratifying, beneficial and morally upright.

GOD'S NATURAL ATTRUBUTES (CHARACTERISTICS HE POSSESSES WHICH WE DO NOT) ARE:

God is immutable: He has never changed and He never will.

God is omnipresent: He is everywhere simultaneously.

God is omniscient: He know all things both actual and possible.

God is omnipotent: He can how whatever He chooses.

God is one, but His oneness is complex, not simple. The father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are each God. The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are distinct persons within the one being of God.

WHO NEEDS GOD? - EVERYONE!!!

For hope in this life as well as hope for life after death.

To provide the absolute authority regarding truth and morals to guide individuals and society.

In order to have a sense of purpose and meaning in life.

HOW CAN WE KNOW GOD?

1. We can learn about God through the Bible, through nature, and through our conscience.

2. We meet God by saying yes to God's invitation to come to Him.

3. We grow in our relationship with God when we learn of Gods character and commands, and then trust and obey Him.
